Praetorius val'Emman

Leaving behind his lifelong dream of following in his father's footsteps and becoming a Coryani officer, Praetorius has hastely departed the legions where he spent most of his life. He now seeks to right the injustices that led to his departure.

To Know the Sight of Our Lord (Su): Wherever there is life, there is heat. The children of Nier can sense the energies burning within all beings, allowing them to see where normal Val cannot. The Val gains darkvision with a range of 30 feet.

None Shall Stand Who Oppose the Gods (Su): The Judgment of Nier is uncompromising, and His children often share His unsympathetic views when dealing with their enemies. The Val may smite an opponent exactly as an equivalent-level cleric with the Destruction domain (+4 to hit, +Level damage). This may be done once per day, plus one additional time per day for every two blood ranks beyond 1st (twice at blood rank 3, three times at blood rank 5, and so forth).

Race Traits: Rank and Station: When dealing with commoners, Val gain a +2 circumstance bonus to all Diplomacy checks. When dealing with other Val, this bonus (or penalty) is equal to the difference in the Val’s blood rank.

Class Traits: Armor and Weapon Proficiencies: Simple and Martial Weapon Proficiency, Exotic Weapon Proficiency (gladius), Heavy/Medium/Light Armor Proficiency, Exotic Armor Proficiency (lorica segmentata), Shield (including Tower) Proficiency.

Son of a legendary Illonian general, Praetorius was raised in strict military fashion and groomed from an early age to take his place as an officer in the Coryani legions. The death of Praetorius’ father and anhilation of his father’s legions was hailed as a tragedy by the Patricians but details leading up to the event are veiled and varied. Amid threats against his safety and rumors of political machinations among the Coryani elite, Praetorius left the legions. He has taken his own path with brash intentions of restoring the Empire to its glory and righting injustices wherever he percieves them. Perhaps the greatest obstacle to achieving these goals are his own inexperience and naivety.
